Activity Insight is an online software tool by Digital Measures designed to help faculty members collect, organize, and display their data for the purposes of annual reviews, promotion and tenure, and more. It is a centrally-funded resource that is aimed at providing an easier, more efficient way for colleges and campuses to manage large reporting processes in a less time-consuming fashion.
The State Mandated Collection System is a data collection system for collecting the average hours per week spent in university-related activities, stating specifically hours spent in undergraduate classroom contact and graduate classroom contact, hours spent for classroom preparation, hours spent in research, and hours spent in public service. This data is being collected via a web form. The SMCS forms have on them the minimum categories of information required to answer mandated requests from the Legislature of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for faculty weekly workload data. Every semester, faculty activity data is collected by area and department in order to meet reporting requirements for our state appropriations.
