Activity Insight and ORCiD Integration

Activity Insight by Watermark will soon give you the ability to send and receive data to and from ORCiD.

Before that happens you need to do some things…

First you need to connect your ORCiD ID to PSU by visiting http://orcid.identity.psu.edu
Step by step instructions for this can be found here: https://guides.libraries.psu.edu/orcid

Once you have completed that step log into Activity Insight, go to Publications, click on Import (located on the top right of the screen). Once the Import Publications screen loads, on the fight side you will see Import from a Third Party. In the Select a service dropdown box choose ORCiD. You will then see a link that says Create or Connect your ORCiD iD, click on this link and follow the steps to connect your ORCiD account.  Now that you are connected you can not only pull your Publication data in from ORCiD, but now you can send your data to ORCiD!

Why would you want to send this information to ORCiD?
ORCiD connects to SciENcv (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sciencv/) which will help researchers apply for grants through NIH and NSF.

Locked Contract Grants

How do I update the locked Contracts, Grants, Fellowships, and/or Sponsored Research records in Activity Insight?

We import this data on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. To keep the University data accurate across the University the record is locked on import. If the record needs to be corrected, please go to MyResearch Portal, SIMS, or contact your Research Administrator.

If the record is Pending you can change it to Not Funded in the MyResearch Portal. If the record is Pending and it has been Awarded you must contact your Research Administrator.

What is ORCiD?

ORCiD provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher. This means that it will be less likely that your name will be confused with another researcher with a similar name, ensuring that you get the credit you deserve for your work. Unlike your work email or identification number, your ORCiD ID follows you when you move. You can include your ORCiD identifier on your publications, grants and even your web page. You can also link your ORCiD ID to other services such as LinkedIn and Researcher ID. Soon you will be able to import your ORCiD publications into Activity Insight!
